Controlled by randomness cartoon

I am not sure what this New Yorker cartoonist is trying to say, or whether I agree with it. Yes, we live in a complex system, and unpredictable events affect us all the time. Is he paranoid for thinking that? Is that more or less disturbing than some evil conspiracy controlling us?

    1. My rebuttal to: "Physics in 100 Years"
      Abstract
Basically, this paper is a load of Kurzweillian bullshit except that Frankie "The Dreamer" Wilczek can for sure deliver a heavily subsidized solar panel (for your tent in Tent City)

      Summary
The hordes of luddites living in your ghetto town with the 23 liquor stores are more practical at problem solving than the esteemed physicists.

  2. When I see someone using the term random, I always ask what distribution. Randomness is not really "random" unless you like being circular.
