Professor Dave Attacks Everyone Again

Professor Dave has a Youtube channel with 3.8 million subscribers and over 300 million views, and he is on the warpath again against an assortment of scientists and science popularizers, including Sabine Hossenfelder, Lawrence Krauss, Steve Pinker, Jerry Coyne, Eric Weinstein, Jordan Peterson, Richard Dawkins.

I will saye you some time. His 45-minute rant uses the expletives f**k and s**t 35 times.

He gripes that Hossenfelder criticized string theory, but string theory partially inspired AdS/CFT holography, and that partially inspired a conjectured bound on the quark-gluon plasma that appears to be experimentally confirmed.

There is some truth to this, but string theory have been a failure as a unfied field theory.

His main expertise is chemistry, and his politics are Woke Left.

He also hates Pres. Trump, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and many others.

His final conclusion is Peter Thiel is behind many evils, and is almost surely secretly funding Hossenfelder.

I have criticized some of these folks myself, but this is just a crazy rant. I really doubt Thiel has anything to do with Hossenfelder.

  1. Science either holds up to skepticism, or it falls flat and isn't considered science. Mr. Dave should know this. If a scientific theory can't be held to some scrutiny, why should it be considered true? Because Prof. Dave says so? The man is a foul mouthed narcissist. He draws no lines between sound science and his politics, so he fails at both.

Ad hominem and an appeal to authority are both well known logical fallacies, and yet poor Dave doesn't seem to notice how often he invokes them in his rhetoric.

  2. There is just a little coincidence with the names on Mr. Dave's hate list: They all hold personal views he disagrees with, or are friends and associate with people he doesn't like.

This isn't how science is done. 'Mean girls' isn't a philosophy, or a strategy to discern truth in science, it's a clique mentality also known as groupthink...with Coprolalia tacked on. It is my hope that in the future people like Dave are curtly reminded to get their foul mouth under control or leave the discussion to people who can control themselves in public.

  4. Wow! That "Professor" Dave guy is VERY feminine and infantile! He is lashing out at actual academics out of resentment that he himself has no PhD and is not employed in academia (at least not in any notable fashion).
